Mission: The AITP Education Foundation's mission is the professional development
of individuals in the information systems industry.
- Research
- The AITP Education Foundation is the research and development arm of AITP (The
Association for Information Systems Professionals). It is a not-for-profit organization
established in 1975 to meet the changing educational requirements of the information
systems profession and industry, and to address the long term educational efforts essential
to support the industry and DPMA (now AITP) members.
- The Education Foundation, as an independent body representing practitioners, as
well as educators and researchers, seeks to provide leadership in identifying educational
opportunities that will advance the information systems profession.
- Services
- The Foundation objectives are to:
- Advance the education of information systems professionals in education, business,
government, and the general public.
- Determine the needs and desires of information system professionals with regard to
education and development.
- Develop and stimulate the use of educational programs for information systems
evaluation.
- Conduct research and development activities related to educational courses and
programs.
- Further the development of effective information systems curricula.
- Encourage the development and adoption of technical and managerial information
systems standards and preferred practices.
- Develop and release publications in support of the Foundation's objectives.
- Volunteers
- The Foundation is governed by a six-member Board of Regents who are appointed
by the President of AITP to serve overlapping three-year terms. Four Regents must be
information systems professionals, educators, or researchers and two members may be
appointed without regard to the person's profession. Four of the regents are selected from
among the AITP membership and two are selected without regard to such membership. The
Foundation makes extensive use of volunteer committees made up of AITP members and/or
nonmembers chosen to support a single effort.
